BROOKFIELD RANGERS 0 GREAT HORWOOD 4
6th February 2010
Scoreres: Ciaran (2), Will (2)
A victorious start to our 2010 league campaign.
In the first quarter his defensive duties were picked up splendidly by Jack, ably assisted by Eddie with Henry unbeatable in goal.
Chris and KP were running the midfield with Ciaran up top. The deadlock was broken when Ciaran made a run from the edge of the box to knee (its now how, its how many) a Chris corner into the net.
Q1: Brookfield Rangers 0 Great Horwood 1
he second quarter began with Louis in goal looking to build on the Juniors goal keeping training that he is attending.
Billy and Theo were man mountains at the back with Jack sitting just in front of them stopping the supply to the front men. This left Henry to dominate the middle of the park in his usual fashion.
A smart turn and finish by Will from the edge of the box increased the Ravens (the real ones) lead.
Q2: Brookfield Rangers 0 Great Horwood 2
Going up the slope in the second half was no hardship for the boys and soon Ciaran had broken free to finish calmly into the corner.Eddie made some great saves after this to keep the lead intact but the pressure was building.
Q3: Brookfield Rangers 0 Great Horwood 3
Quarter 4 saw a rare appearance for Theo in goal and he kept up the clean sheet by making some unorthodox saves but saves nevertheless. Will netted his second and the Ravens 4th to seal the game.
Brookfield Rangers 0 Great Horwood 4
A very even game despite the score line.
Brookfield didn’t take their chances but Great Horwood did.
Team: Henry, Jack, KP, Theo, Eddie, Billy, Chris, Louis, Will and Ciaran
Manager Martin’s man of the match – Jack
Coach Tony’s man of the match – Eddie

WATER EATON BLUES 2 GREAT HORWOOD 1
5th December
Scorer: Will
This was a game the Ravens didn’t deserve to win but they didn’t deserve to lose either.
A very close game was scoreless at the end of the first quarter and at half time.
The Ravens dominated but couldn’t find that last pass to set up Will or Ciaran.
The Blues broke the deadlock in the 3rd quarter despite a fine effort from Henry in goal.
The fourth quarter brought the deserved equaliser when Owen broke up a Blues attack and sent Will clear with a beautiful pass.
Will finished with his normal clinical style.
Sadly with only a couple of minutes to go the Blues seized on a sliced goal kick to squeeze the ball just past Billy for the winner.
A very even game that the Ravens deserved something from but that’s football.
Squad: Owen, Eddie, Henry, Billy, Theo, Jack, Chris, Kieran, Will and Ciaran.
Manager Martin’s man of the match: Chris
Coach Tony’s man of the match: Theo

GREAT HORWOOD 5 SCOT YOUTH FALCONS 1
7th November
Scorers: Will (4), Ciaran
Competition: MKDJ7
Match report: Back to winning ways
Don’t let the score line fool you this was a very close game.
In a very tight first quarter Ciaran managed to nick a goal to put our noses in front.
Thankfully some sloppy defending by the Falcons allowed Will a second quarter hat trick but we were still at full stretch in defence.
The second half saw constant Falcon pressure which realised a goal in the fourth quarter.
Will restored our cushion shortly afterwards with another nice finish to ease any worries
A very good result against a good side.
Team: Ciaran, Billy, Henry, Chris, Owen, KP, Will, Theo, Louis, Eddie and Jack
Men of the match: Billy and Eddie

TWO MILE ASH ROCKETS 4 GREAT HORWOOD 1
17th October
Scorers: Henry
Competition: MKDJ7
Match report: The Terrible Twos
The worst performance by far this season resulting in a defeat to a team who we beat easily earlier in the year.
No movement, passing or fluency coupled with basic defensive errors such as not marking and not being goal side led to us conceding 4 goals.
Henry’s goal was our only noteworthy effort. A nice move straight from the kick off.
Shame we couldn’t build on it.
Team: Ciaran, Billy, Henry, Owen, KP, Will, Theo, Louis, Eddie and Jack
Man of the match: Louis

GREAT HORWOOD 5 DEANSHANGER COLTS MUSTANGS 4
10th October
Scorers: Chris (2), Ciaran (2), og
Competition: Friendly
Match report: Ravens back on track - just.
The boys bounced back from their league defeat but only just.
Oozing quality, half time was reached with a 4 – 0 lead.
Chris on the mark twice, along with Ciaran and an unfortunate own goal.
I’m not sure what happened at half time but a completely different team came out.
The Mustangs got back to 4 – 4 in the fourth quarter and looked like they were going to win it until Ciaran snatched the winner with a minute to go.
Concentration clearly lacking and woeful kick offs to be worked on in training again.
Team: Ciaran, Billy, Henry, Owen, Chris, Will, Theo, Louis, Eddie and Jack
Men of the match: Chris and Ciaran

NEW CITY SAINTS 12 GREAT HORWOOD 3
26th September
Scorers: Will (2), Ciaran
Competition: MKDJ7
Match report: Ravens back down to earth with a bump.
The Saints proved far too good for the Ravens in this one-sided encounter.
3 - 0 down after only a couple of minutes was to become 3-2 at the end of the first quarter thanks to Ciaran and Will but the writing was on the wall.
The Saints all swarmed to the ball and the Ravens could not find a way past them.
Sadly 4 more goals went in the wrong end in quarter two with only a solitary Will reply.
The second half was one-way traffic as well with 5 unanswered goals being scored by the opposition.
A tough game for the boys.
Team: Chris, Louis, Owen, Will, Henry, Ciaran, Eddie, Theo, KP and Jack
Men of the match: Jack and Louis

GREAT HORWOOD 13 MK CITY 1
The Ravens entertained MK City Pirates in their first league game of the season.
An outstanding first quarter saw the Ravens lead 4 - 0 with goals from Will (2), Ciaran and Henry.
The boys played some really lovely football that was too much for the visitors to cope with.
Two further goals from Will and a solitary reply from the visitors gave the home team a 5 goal cushion at half time.
After a stirring half time team talk from coach Tony the boys returned to their brand new pitch but this time playing up the slope.
The gradient made little difference as Henry, Chris and KP all netted to make the score 9-1 at the end of the third quarter.
Just as the oppostion thought things could get no worse the fourth quarter saw the re-introduction of Ciaran who scored 3 times and set up Chris for his second making the final score 13 - 1.
An excellent effort all round. Owen, Jack and Theo were all man mountains at the back whilst Eddie sprayed the ball around in midfield as usual. Louis looks more and more like Owen Hargreaves but without the injury problems.
This will be a hard act to follow but I'm sure the boys are up to the task.
Men of the match: Will and Eddie
