Sharnbrook 3 – 4 Great Horwood Ravens
At 3-0 down with only a couple of minutes to half time the hair dryer was coming out of the cupboard. No desire, slow of thought, second to everything, the usual suspects. Then Reuben showed the first sign of passion by breaking a couple of tackles to set up Henry who fired low through the keeper. Half time team rant turned into half time team talk as Louis cut the ball back from the right for Henry to rifle in from the edge of the box. Was the comeback possible? Ciaran seemed to think so as he bent in the equaliser and the away hordes went mental as Will struck the winner (great assist Chris) with minutes to go.
Be proud of yourselves boys, you’ve beaten a very good team here. Let’s take this performance through to next week.
Squad: Thomas, Chris, Jack, Ciaran, Reuben, Theo, Louis, Henry,Eddie, and Will.
MoM: Reuben and Henry
07/01/12
City Colts 4 – 3 Great Horwood Ravens
An outstanding display for 55 minutes chucked away by conceding two of the softest goals you are ever likely to see in the last 5 minutes. We gave this one away.
Squad: Billy, Chris, Jack, Ciaran, Reuben, Owen, Henry,Eddie, and Will.
MoM: Jack
03/12/11
Leighton Town 10 – 1 Great Horwood Ravens
The result speaks for itself. Absolutely abysmal. However special mention for the boy who, after the 10th one had gone in, raced the ball back to the centre circle to have another go. An oasis of desire in a desert of despair.
Squad: Billy, Thomas, Jack, Ciaran, Reuben, Owen, KP, Louis, Theo and Will.
MoM: Ciaran
26/11/11
Great Horwood Ravens 2 – 1 Newton Longville
A two goal lead thrown away but some dire defending. Sometimes it’s got to go into row Z.
Squad: Billy, Thomas, Eddie, Ciaran, Ben, Chris, KP, Louis, Theo and Henry.
MoM: Thomas and Ciaran
19/11/11
Great Horwood Ravens 4 – 1 Harrold & Carlton Chiefs
The sign of a good team is to win when not playing particularly well. Some good stuff but yet more ‘second to the ball’ lack of desire. More needed to progress in this competition.
Squad: Billy, Owen, Eddie, Ciaran, Ben, Chris, KP, Will, Reuben and Henry.
MoM: Eddie and Chris
12/11/11
Great Horwood Ravens 6 – 1 Harrold & Carlton Chiefs
A display full of passing, movement and desire. A joy to watch, even commented on by the opposition supporters. Well done guys.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Eddie, Theo, Ben, Louis, KP, Will, Reuben and Henry.
MoM: KP and Henry
29/10/11
Brookfield Rangers 3 – 4 Great Horwood Ravens
Four more for Will in this 7 goal thriller. Good to be back on the winning trail again.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Owen, Theo, Ben, Thomas, Chris, Will, Reuben and Henry.
MoM: Ben and Will
22/10/11
Newton Longville 2 – 2 Great Horwood Ravens
A couple of really soft goals from free kicks were sandwich by two excellent Ravens goals. Fantastic left foot over the shoulder volley from Will and an individual effort from Ciaran. Things slowly going in the right direction.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Owen, Theo, Ben, Louis, Chris, Will, Reuben and Ciaran.
MoM: Owen and Theo
15/10/11
Great Horwood Ravens 1 – 3 Southside United
More improvement, including a great goal by Ciaran after some excellent link up play with Louis. No desire to be first to the ball again meant we were trapped in our own half for most of the game.
Squad: Jack, Eddie, Owen, Henry, Louis, Chris, KP, Reuben and Ciaran.
MoM: Ciaran and Louis
08/10/11
Great Horwood Ravens 2 – 4 Bromham Youth
Better than last week but hard to win when you concede 4 soft goals. No desire to be first to the ball again. This leads to lack of possession and sustained pressure on the defence.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Eddie, Theo, Reuben, Ben, Louis, Thomas, Will and Ciaran.
MoM: Reuben and Theo
01/10/11
AFC Brickhill 2 – 1 Great Horwood Ravens
After the Lord Mayor’s show I’m afraid. No movement, no passing, not even any calling. A deserved loss. Back to Square 1.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Owen, Theo, KP, Henry, Louis, Chris, Will and Ciaran.
MoM: Billy and Henry
24/09/11
Great Horwood Ravens 2 – 2 City Colts Sharks (won 2 – 0 pens)
Massive Cup shock as the Sharks are in division 1. The boys have never played better. All of them were stars.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Owen, Theo, Reuben, Henry, Ben, Chris, Will and Ciaran.
MoM: Jack and Owen
17/09/11
Deanhanger Colts 4 – 3 Great Horwood Ravens
We all got extremely wet but put up a reasonable show. A goal for Ben in his first ever Ravens game. Need to work on our defensive positioning.
Squad: Billy, Owen, Eddie, Louis, Theo, Reuben, Thomas, KP, Ben and Ciaran.
MoM: Reuben and Thomas
10/09/11
Great Horwood Ravens 6 – 4 Silverstone Racers
Will scores all 4 from outside the box including one free kick that Gordon Banks wouldn’t have stopped. A winning start to our first competitive League season.
Squad: Billy, Jack, Owen, Eddie, Louis, Theo, Reuben, Henry, Thomas, KP, Chris, Will and Ciaran.
MoM: Chris and Will
