14th Nov 10 - League New City Saints 0 - Great Horwood 4
Scorers:- Ed (3), Will
Great Horwood travelled to Milton Keynes to face New City Saints this morning in match that could take them to second in the division.
The Ravens started the game having to reshuffle the line up, with Alfie and Alex JB unavailable Harry started in the centre of defence alongside Henry Bo and Ed pushed forward to partner Josh in attack. Will and Sam in the centre of midfield started brightly working well together to break up the Saints play, passing wide to Jack and Alex and linking with the front two to create opportunities to take on the Saints defence.
Horwood were playing well on the small pitch but were finding the opening goal elusive, Ed having a headed chance cleared of the line, the final pass forward being hit just slightly to hard or the Saints keeper making some good saves to keep the score level so after twenty minutes and with the scores tied Horwood made a couple of changes, Joe replacing Josh at the front and Robin swapping with Sam in midfield to try and get the breakthrough before half time and just a couple of minutes later Ed obliged, after a purposeful run and pass from Robin found Ed in the Saints area he collected the ball placing his shot past the keeper.
1 – 0 up and with only a few minutes left before the break Robin and Ed combined again to extend the Ravens lead, another well weighted pass from Robin found Ed in space to score his second. There was just time to restart before the whistle blew for half time signalling the end of a half that Horwood had dominated for the most part. The half time talk was made a lot easier being two goals up, instructions were to keep the shape, use the passing game to create space on the small pitch and just take a bit of weight off of the through balls to stop them running to the Saints Keeper.
The second half started and the Ravens continued to play the better football with Saints being unable to create any real threat as the Horwood defence of Daniel C, Henry Bo, Harry and Henry Bu protected Kierans goal and turning defence into attack so it wasn’t too long before the lead was extended when Will collected a pass on Horwoods left and let fly with a shot from outside the penalty area which beat the Saints keeper to find the top corner of the goal. Horwood completed the scoring midway through the half when Ed timed his run to stay onside and was found with a well weighted pass that he converted to complete his hat trick.
Sam and Josh were reintroduced to the game with the hard working Ed and Jack making way, the game played out with Horwood continuing to push for another goal and City Saints forcing Kieran into a late save to keep a clean sheet.
The Ravens produced a good result today with everyone adapting well to the small pitch, man of the match was a difficult decision between Ed and Will, however it was Will with another good display in the centre and a pile driver goal that got the trophy. The next game is away to local rivals Preston Gawcott where Horwood will be looking to reverse the result from their previous meeting.
7th Nov 10 - League Great Horwood 2 - United MK 4
Scorers:- Tom, Josh
The Ravens lost out on a win today when a five minute loss of concentration cost them three quick second half goals and failure to take their chances in front of the oppositions goal.
Horwood had already faced league leaders United MK earlier in the season sharing the points after an evenly matched game so they were looking to go one better this morning and secure all three points to close the gap at the top of the table.
Both teams started the first half well, the Ravens settling quickly into their passing game making some probing runs down both wings via Alex K on the left and Tom, starting in place of the rested Jack, on the right. Will and Sam were paired in the middle of midfield both making some good passes to the wide positions and threading balls through the MK defence to the forward duo of Alex JB and Dan B who were working hard to make space.
The MK keeper was being kept the busier of the two as the Ravens defence of Daniel C, Henry Bo, Alfie and Henry Bu worked together well to limit United’s chances, Kieran only having to make one save, diving to his left to push the ball around the post, in the first 25 minutes. Horwood made a couple of changes up front introducing Robin and Josh to replace Alex JB and Dan B and continued to enjoy the majority of the possession but it was MK, against the run of play, that took the lead when the ball dropped to their forward inside the Ravens penalty area and was driven at goal giving Kieran no chance to make a save.
The Ravens didn’t let their heads drop and with only a couple of minutes to go before halftime Tom scored the goal of the game to equalise, picking the ball up inside his own half he made another of his characteristic runs down the right avoiding three or four MK tackles before cutting inside and planting the ball into the far corner of Uniteds goal.
1-1 at half time, Horwood had played well but just not had that bit of luck in front of goal to end the half in the lead. The instructions for the second half were given, a bit more bite in the tackles and to not switch off at the start of the half.
The second half couldn’t have started any better for the home team when within a couple of minutes of the restart they scored their second to take the lead, Josh collecting a cross from Alex K to score his first goal for the club. Horwood went looking to increase the advantage but three goals by the visitors in a mad 5 minutes saw MK get the back into the game. The equaliser came from a corner when an unmarked MK player was free to slot the ball into Kieran’s goal, Horwood then responded by breaking into the MK area with the final shot from Alex K hitting the post and rolling along the goal line to be cleared for MK to counter and convert the resulting cross from their left. Within a few minutes MK got their fourth when another cross wasn’t dealt with to be dispatched past Kieran.
From 2-1 up to 4-2 down in five minutes but the Ravens drive didn’t drop. Harry was introduced at right back with Daniel C making way, The Ravens then had the chance to reduce the deficit when a good move down the right saw Tom square the ball to Josh who sliced his shot wide.
Alex JB and Dan B rejoined the game replacing Tom (injured) and Josh (rested) midway through the half and with Horwood continuing to create chances the MK keeper was again the busier making some good saves to deny the Ravens.
The final whistle blew and it wasn’t to be Horwoods day with their winning run coming to an end. A strong team effort today with all the boys playing their part with the ‘Man of the Match’ being awarded to Alfie for a composed performance in the centre of defence.
31st Oct 10 - League Heelands Rangers B 3 - Great Horwood 5
Scorers:- Jack (2), Robin (2), Joe
The Ravens travelled to Heelands today looking for their third win in a row boosted by the inclusion in the squad of two new players, Kieran who has joined as goal keeper and Josh who adds another option to the midfield/forward lines.
Having already beaten today’s opponents on the opening day of the season Horwood were hopeful of completing their first ‘Double’ of the campaign, however it was Heelands that made the better start in the wet conditions opening the scoring when a Horwood goal kick was collected by the Heelands forward who then steered the ball around Kieran to give the home team an early advantage.
Going behind seamed to spur the Ravens into action, the passing became a little crisper and the tackling firmer so an equaliser wasn’t long in arriving, a good move down the Horwoods right hand side was finished by Jack who cut in to the edge of Heelands penalty area driving his shot across the goal keeper and into the far corner of the goal. Horwoods, and Jacks second came from midfield, the ball was won by Horwood and finding Jack in space he looked up picking his spot to accurately lob the keeper who had stepped off his line. 2-1 up and now looking the better team Horwood were breaking quickly at every opportunity, Will going close to extending the lead with a curling effort that went narrowly wide.
Heelands were not giving up and forced Horwood to concede a couple of corners, it was from one of these kicks that Heelands grabbed an equaliser when in a packed penalty area the ball dropped at the feet of the Heelands forward who powered in a shot from close range giving Kieran no chance to make a save. Again the Ravens attacked the opponents goal, Horwoods midfield of Alex K, Will, Robin and Jack linking up effectively with Joe and Dan B who were leading Ravens attack. Horwood did get their chance to regain the lead when Robin was fouled inside the Heelands area resulting in a penalty, Will was given the responsibility of taking the kick but his firmly struck shot was well saved by the Heelands keeper who went the right way to push the ball to safety.
Horwoods play got a little scrappy as half time approached, passes were being rushed and ball control missing so it took a bit of composure from Joe to restore the lead when he received the ball on the edge of the Heelands area with his back to goal, turning smartly he directed his shot low into the corner of the net.
Half time with the Ravens leading 3-2, the team talk this week was to improve the control, not to rush the play when in possession and to concentrate on the passing game in the wide positions.
From the restart Heelands had a chance draw level when they broke quickly from the kick off but a smart save from Kieran ensured Horwood kept the lead which they extended with their first attack of the half, some smart passing in the midfield resulted in a through ball for Robin to collect and finish, slotting the ball past the advancing keeper. Horwood then made three changes to the line up, Joe, Will and Alfie, who had a good game at left back in his first game outfield after three goal keeping appearances, were replaced by Josh, making his debut, Sam and Henry Bu.
Both teams worked hard to create chances, Heelands attacks were being restricted by the Ravens back line of Henry Bu, slotting in at left back, Henry Bo, Ed and Daniel C who were playing sensibly, clearing any danger, tackling back and passing to midfield for Horwood to attack. The Ravens themselves could have extend the lead earlier in the half with a good run and shot going narrowly wide from Josh and several goal mouth scrambles being cleared by the home defence but with ten minutes to go the Ravens did get some breathing space when a strong run from Robin resulted Jack collecting the ball on the edge of the area who fired a cross/shot back towards goal which was deflected into the net by Robin.
Heelands weren’t done, Kieran was again called on to make a save at point blank range, However, with a couple of minutes left on the clock Heelands did manage to pull a goal back when a good run resulted in a shot across the Ravens goal that found the far corner of the net.
The full time whistle sounded, Horwood winning their third game in a row, Man of the match was awarded to Kieran for a confident display in goal. Another good team performance this week with every member of the squad playing their part in the game.
24th Oct 10 - League Great Horwood 5 - City Colts Falcons 4
Scorers:- Alex K (3), Joe (2)
A first half hat-trick from Alex K gets the Ravens back into the game after a poor first 20 minutes finds them trailing by three goals.
After last weekends great performance at Steeple Claydon everyone had high hopes for a similar performance during today’s game. However, it was City Colts that made the better start scoring three times in the first twenty minutes to put the Ravens firmly on the back foot.
The first of City’s goals came from the penalty spot, a strong run into Horwoods penalty area resulted in Sam, starting at left back, sliding in to make a challenge which upended the Colts forward giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot, the resulting penalty being dispatched low to Alfies right giving him no chance of making a save. City Colts pushed forward at every opportunity and with Horwood lacking discipline with regards to the shape of the team it wasn’t long they conceded the second goal, a lofted pass over Horwoods defence was collected by the Colts forward who out paced Henry Bo and Ed to slot the ball past a helpless Alfie. Horwood were not were not getting into the game, tackles were being missed and the passing wayward so it wasn’t surprising that City Colts took advantage of the home teams failings to grab a third, another through ball splitting Horwoods defence and being converted to extend their lead.
At 3–0 down and the game looked lost but the Ravens didn’t give up and started to play as they had in previous games. Unfortunately Robin had to be replaced due to injury so Sam moved forward into the centre of midfield alongside Will and Henry Bu joined the game at left back, but the change in personnel didn’t stop the Ravens growing confidence as they regained their discipline and started to create chances themselves.
The comeback started with a goal from Joe, a good move from Horwood found him on the left of the Colts penalty area and after cutting inside onto his favoured right foot he slotted his shot under the advancing keeper to narrow the lead. Within a few minutes Horwood had scored their second and Alex’s first, the Colts goalkeeper failed to hold onto a cross from Tom allowing Alex to poke the ball over the line. The Ravens drew level after some neat passing between Alex K and Joe opened the Colts defence for Alex to grab his second placing his shot across the keeper and inside the far post and just before half time Alex K completed his hat-trick to give Horwood the lead, after collecting a through ball from Will he again directed his shot into the corner of the opponents net.
4-3 up at half time, what a turnaround! The managers instructions were to continue playing as the last fifteen minutes of the half, be firmer with the tackles and to maintain the shape. What did the second half have in store?
The second half began as the first finished with Horwood now looking to extend their slender lead. It wasn’t long before Joe obliged, after another strong run and cross from Tom was only partially cleared by the Colts keeper leaving an easy tap in for Joe’s second. However, City Colts were still in the game and were pushing had to score their fourth, which they did after Horwood lost possession in midfield allowing the Colts to break down their right finishing with a good lobbed effort beating Alfie to narrow Horwoods advantage.
Jack and Alex JB were introduced for the hardworking Dan B and Tom, Alex slotting in up front and Jack taking over the running on the right. Both teams worked hard to create more chances and with a bit more composure in front of goal Horwood may well have scored again and the Ravens defence held fast to limit City Colts chances with some good tackling from Henry Bu, covering from Henry Bo and Ed and measured passing under pressure from Daniel C. Robin returned to the action for the last ten minutes, Will making way after another good performance, to add cover in midfield. The last few minutes were fairly frantic as the Colts looked for an equaliser but Horwood managed to hold firm to secure the points.
The final whistle blew with Horwood completing an extraordinary performance to win the game. Another great team performance again this week with a number of players in contention for man of the match. However the award went to the hat-trick scorer, Alex K, who’s three goals got Horwood back into the game.
17 Oct 10 League Steeple Claydon 0 - Great Horwood 5
Scorers:- Alex JB (3), Joe, Alex K
Great Horwood travelled to Steeple Claydon today where an Alex JB hat-trick helped the Ravens to secure the points.
Looking for a positive result after defeats in their previous two fixtures the Ravens starting line up of Alfie, Daniel C, Henry Bo, Ed, Henry Bu, Jack, Alex K, Will, Sam, Joe and Alex JB was the same one that had played well in the first half of Horwoods last game against 3rd Division Southside and with three subs, Robin, Harry and Tom available the management were hopeful of a good result.
The first half kicked off and it was Horwood that made the best start with some early possession, their initial attacks probing the Claydon defence and confining the early exchanges in the home teams half. It wasn’t long before this early pressure paid off and Horwood opened the scoring, when after 5 minutes Joes shot was parried by the Claydon keeper only for the ball to fall to Alex JB to slot home the rebound for his and Horwoods first goal of the game.
From the restart Horwood pushed forward time after time with Will and Sam commanding the middle of the pitch and passing accurately to Jack and Alex K on the wings to torment the Claydon full backs. Alex JB doubled the lead on ten minutes with his second goal, collecting a through ball from midfield he shook off his marker and from the edge of the area powered a low shot into the corner of the Claydon net, 2 – 0 up and Alfie in the Horwood goal was having a quiet game with the Horwood back four, Daniel C, Henry Bo, Ed and Henry Bu dealing well with any potential Claydon attacks, clearing any danger and passing the ball out from the back to start Horwoods own counter attacks.
Midway through the half and with the game firmly in Horwoods control a couple of changes were made to the line up, the hardworking Will and Alex K were rested for Robin and Tom as Horwood pushed for a third goal. The Claydon keeper was being forced into making some good saves to keep his team in the game, Sam hit the post with a good left foot effort and the Claydon defence cleared several goal mouth scrambles before Horwoods persistence eventually paid off, Joe increasing Horwoods lead when he slotted the ball past the diving Claydon keeper after some good build up play. Unfortunately Horwoods concentration seamed to drop after the third goal and for the last ten minutes of the half things got a little scrappy as they allowed Claydon to get their first shot of the game on target, Horwood not quite able to keep up the high standard of play shown earlier in the half.
Half Time, the Instructions during the break were to continue as the first half, concentrating for the rest of the game.
Horwood restarted the game and continued to pressurise the Claydon goal, Alex JB and Joe going close on several occasions to increasing the lead. Harry was introduced into the game resting Daniel C at right back as Claydon upped their game, they were now playing a lot more directly using the long kicks from the goal keepers hands to try and clear the defence but they were still unable to create any real chances to trouble Alfie.
Horwood were playing well creating the better chances, Will and Alex K were reintroduced for Sam and Jack, with Alex K, now playing on the left, soon going close with a couple of good efforts and Will making the pass of the game switching the play from the Ravens right to wide left releasing Alex K for another run at the defence, eventually Alex JB took his chance to complete his hat-trick, a good move from Tom and Robin down the right was finished with another fierce shot low into the Claydon goal giving the keeper no chance of making a save.
With ten minutes to go a Daniel C rejoined the game this time at left back, Henry Bu making way after a strong performance, and Alex K sealed the points when he scored Horwoods fifth goal after cutting in from the wing and guiding the ball under the advancing keeper. Claydon created a chance to grab a consolation goal in the last couple of minutes when a good cross from their left could only be met with a weak shot which was easily collected by Alfie.
The final whistle sounded to end a great performance from the squad, all fifteen players giving 100% and producing some of their best football of the season so far. Man of the match was awarded to Alex JB, his first hat-trick for the team tipping the balance although the award could have been awarded to any number of players for today’s efforts.
3/10/10 Cup R1 Great Horwood 2 Southside Utd 6
Scorers:- Will, Alex JB
Great Horwood U14's played hosts today to an unbeaten Southside Utd from the 3rd division in the first round of the League Cup in a real 'Game of Two Halves'.
After having to re-jig the starting line up due to injuries, Tom still unavailable with a hip problem, and a late arrival, Harry not telling his Mum about the game, The Ravens kicked off with the wind at their backs.
However, it was Southside that made the better start with some probing runs against the changed Horwood defense of Daniel C, Henry Bo, Henry Bu and Ed playing his first game at the back. Alfie, having volunteered for goal keeping duties, was called upon on a few occasions to make a save the most notable being a smart one handed stop at his near post from a strong goal bound Southside effort. Horwood themselves were playing well and as the half progressed they started to produce some of their best football of the season so far, Will and Sam spreading the ball wide for Alex K and Jack who combined well with Joe and Alex JB at the front to put pressure on the Southside goal.
It was Southside that opened the scoring, a good through ball being picked up by their pacey forward who out sprinted Henry Bo to shoot low past Alfie and a second was not long in coming when a Southside corner wasn't cleared far enough and from the edge of the box a well placed effort was guided into the top corner of Horwoods goal.
2 - 0 down, but not out, the Ravens rallied and within a couple of minutes had pulled a goal back when Alex K managed to force a low cross into Southsides area where a first time shot from Alex JB was saved but not held by the keeper, Will following up smashing the the ball into an open goal. Deservedly Horwood got the equalizer just before half time, this time it was Alex JB who collected a good pass from the midfield for one on one with the keeper and with a fierce right foot strike he put the shot low into the corner of the goal.
2 - 2 at the break, both teams playing their part in an entertaining first half, The managers half time talk focusing on continuing the second half as the first and to be aware of the wind now blowing in our faces.
From the restart the Ravens never really got back into their stride and struggled to cope with the conditions, with a combination of unforced errors from Horwood and some good play from Southside seeing the visitors score four goals without reply, Horwood not managing to trouble the Southside goal although the effort was there throughout the half, just the final passes lacking in accuracy.
The final whistle sounded, Horwood losing 6 - 2, but with complements from both the referee and Southside spectators regarding the standard of play and attitude their is plenty to build on from this performance for the rest of the season. Alfie was awarded man of the match for his goal keeping but again the whole squad deserves praise for the way they played as team today.
26/9/10 League Great Horwood 0 Preston Gawcott 1 Scorers:-
After last weeks draw the Ravens were looking to get back to winning ways against Preston Gawcott, but once again the game was a very closely contested affair. With a couple of players missing and the ongoing problem of goal keeper changes were forced onto the Horwood line up but the management were still confident of a positive result.
The first half saw a very busy Gawcott team work hard to deny Horwood any time and space on the ball and with Horwoods passing and control not being up to the standard of previous weeks chances were few and far between. Alex K, playing in goal, was the quieter of the two keepers having to make only one real save when faced with the on rushing gawcott striker, Alex closing the angle and making the block with his upper body, Horwoods defense of Daniel C, Henry Bo, Sam and Henry Bu were also playing well making some good tackles, clearances and interceptions to keep Gawcotts chances to a minimum.
The Ravens midfield were working hard, Robin was covering acres of ground trying close down Gawcott players and make the telling pass, Dan B had the man marking job in the centre with Will and Jack playing out wide where most of Horwoods best moves were started with runs down both wings when it looked as if Horwood would break the deadlock.
The half time whistle blew with the score at 0 - 0, the Ravens had had the better chances on the break but Gawcott were playing with determination and were certainly not out of the game. The managers instructions for the second half were to keep the shape of the team, not to rush when controlling the ball or making a pass and to continue with the effort shown through the first half.
The second half started as the first had finished, Horwood making some good counter attacks which were causing problems in the Gawcott penalty area, Joe and Ed both having efforts saved / blocked and Jack seeing a good long range effort narrowly drop the wrong side of the post after he spotted the Gawcott keeper off his line. He was also unlucky not to connect with Wills cross to the far post to open the scoring. Gawcotts best attack came just after Jacks miss, forcing Alex to make a good save, pushing the ball onto the post before being cleared to safety.
With five minutes to go the game looked as if it could be heading for a draw when Gawcott made a good break, the resulting cross wasn't dealt with and the ball falling to an unmarked Gawcott forward was smashed into Horwoods goal from six yards giving Alex K no chance. For the remaining minutes Horwood tried to grab an equaliser but Gawcott held out for the win, the final whistle bringing the game to an end and with it Horwoods first defeat of the season.
Alex K was deservedly awarded man of the match for his keepers performance and team spirit for volunteering to go in goal for one half but staying in for the whole game this week, many thanks.
Although the Ravens created the better chances and kept Gawcotts to a minimum today they didn't play as well as we know they can/have so there are a few things to think about at training in the coming weeks, with a league cup game next weekend lets hope that the Ravens can get back to winning ways.
19/09/10 League United Mk 1 Great Horwood 1
Scorers:- Alex JB
Great Horwood U14’s traveled to United MK this morning looking to continue the form that they showed during their opening league fixture.
The Ravens kicked off with the wind behind them and made a good start with some neat passing on a small MK pitch that produced a couple of early half chances. Mk slowly got into their stride resulting in a period where MK were playing well and creating the better chances with Robin, playing in goal, having to make a couple saves and the Horwood back four of Daniel C, Harry. Alfie and Henry Bu being the busier of the two defenses breaking up the MK attacks, but after some instruction from the manager regarding positions and marking duties Horwood started to get the upper hand, some good moves on the Horwood wings allowed Alex K and Jack to supply some dangerous crosses into the MK penalty area that couldn’t quite be converted to open the scoring.
With half time approaching Horwood did manage to break the deadlock when Joe B collected a through ball only to have his shot saved by the MK keeper, who unable to hold onto the ball allowed Alex JB to score from close range tapping in the rebound, 1 – 0 to the Ravens, MK pushed for an equalizer before the break but were unable to create any real scoring opportunities before the whistle blew to end the half.
The half time instructions were given, these included being quicker sorting out the marking duties, be more positive when tackling and to talk to each other, one change was also made with Ed replacing Joe in attack.
The game restarted and MK had obviously changed their tactics, to make use of the wind with more long balls being played to try and cause problems in Horwood’s back line, Robin was again called on to make a number of saves, while the Ravens themselves continued to cause problems at the other end with Ed and Alex JB combining well with Alex K, Will, Sam and Jack when attacking the MK goal.
With 15 minutes to go MK got their equaliser, when a poor Horwood free kick was returned down the MK left and the resulting cross being met by the MK forward who’s looping header cleared Robin and drop into the goal to set up a tense finish. Both teams played the last quarter of an hour to win, Will was replaced by Dan B who slotted into the midfield but with each team canceling the other out neither managed to create that elusive winning goal before the final whistle.
A good, evenly matched, well contested game with the general consensus being that the draw was a fair result. Alex JB was award man of the match for some good individual play and the whole squad were commended for another great performance.
05/09/10 League
Great Horwood 9 Heelands Rangers B 1
Scorers:- Ed, Will, Joe (2), Jack, Robin, Alex JB, Alex K, Tom
The Ravens made an impressive start to their league campaign with today’s confidence boosting performance that saw nine goals scored by eight different players.
From the kick off Horwood got straight into their stride, competing across the pitch, dominating midfield and creating some early chances. Ed broke the deadlock after 5 minutes with Ravens first goal, his shot from close range beating the Heelands keeper. Horwood continued to push forward with the encouragement of an early lead, Will playing in the centre of midfield using the time he was given by Heelands to spread the ball wide with some good accurate passing, the pressure on the Heelands defense eventually paying off with both Will and Joe scoring to give the Ravens a well deserved 3-0 lead.
A couple of changes were made, Alex K taking a breather making way for Tom and an injured Dan B being replaced by Henry Bu and as half time approached a lapse in concentration from Horwoods back four, who up until now had dealt well with all of Heelands attacks, of Daniel C, Robin, Harry and Sam allowed Heelands a lifeline when a run and cross from the Heelands left resulted in a shot being well saved by Alfie only for the rebound to be slotted home by the opposition forward. This slip didn’t effect the Ravens momentum as they continued to play some good football to create a chance for Jack who grabbed Horwoods fourth goal before the whistle blew for the end of the half.
With a 4 - 1 lead the half time instructions were to concentrate for the whole of the second half and to continue playing at the standard of the first half, Some changes were also made to the line up, Ed going in goal, Alfie moving to centre back, Henry Bu taking over from Daniel C at right back, Robin moving into midfield and Alex JB taking over up front.
With the changes to personnel the start of the second half was a little scrappy, Heelands had taken advantage of the break to reorganize and Horwood took a while to adapt before starting to find their passes. A good move from Horwood saw Joe put through to score his second and Horwoods fifth, the goal seamed to settled the Ravens who began to get back into their rhythm and it wasn’t long before Robin and Alex JB opened their accounts to extend the lead. Daniel C and Alex K were reintroduced with Sam & Jack taking a well earned break, Alex quickly getting back into the game to convert Alex JB’s well placed cross and Tom completing the scoring with a well earned goal after a good performance on the right.
The final whistle blew, 9 – 1 to the Ravens, a great performance from the squad to start the season with every player making a contribution to the win. Will was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ after an inspired display in midfield and thanks go to Alfie and Ed for taking on the goal keeping duties. We still have a few things to work on in training but if the boys can continue to perform at the level shown today then 2010 – 2011 should be a better season for the Ravens.
