A winning start to the league campaign for Great Horwood with some great flair play and a solid defence. This was Newport Pagnell Youths U9s first ever league game and Horwood took advantage building on where they left off last season.

A great hat-trick from Ted supported by two good goals from Justin and Oliver. Defensively Horwood played well also sticking to the plan and playing as a team throughout. James had a good game in goal and Joe was outstanding at right back although this was a real team effort.

This was indeed a game of two halves!

The first half was dominated by Horwood with an early goal and good defensive play. The team looked solid although we were trying players in various positions throughout. Two more goals saw us go into half time 3-0 up.

Then we suffered from the notorious wind and rain on the top pitch in the second half and better organisation from our opposition. We unfortunately lost shape and conceded a couple of goals which spurred on Gawcott. It was an exciting game to the end though with Justin having a long range shot just miss the target at the end of the game.

Bring on the cup...
